This post is about the idea of making your comment section cost $0.10 per comment, and why I'm against it as being a policy.
I'm NOT saying that I'm against the usage of $0.10 comment walls, or any other amount for the matter.
What I AM against is the idea that making your comment section cost $0.10 by default will spur the growth of BCH and the Yours community. Why?
Because I like to vote on content, and so do you!
I can see when Yours becomes a more dominant platform, that idea making sense. But it would already be normalized then, and you wouldn't need to say it.
The reason I'm against making comment sections $0.10 to play by default is that it discourages conversation, and with that, the use of the platform.
Now, again, I am not against the use of $0.10 or whatever you want for keeping spam at a mimumum or your notifications down or whatever your reason would be, BESIDES that of doing $0.10 by default to get BCH going.
I'm saying that doesn't make sense. It's illogical, and it'll hurt the Yours community, and take a few notches of use off of BCH.
I don't think it's deadly. Not in the least. I just want to say my piece here about it. Because ideas that are counter-productive, in basic principle, irritate me.
Remember when the $0.10 to post on here was removed? THAT. Applied to the comment section.
Think I'm wrong? Comments are free, at least for now ;) xD

Where did this "comment wall" proposal come from? I've never heard anything about it. Is this being requested by users here on the platform? Who is asking for this? I agree with you that it's a bad idea.
What is the problem with simply letting content creators decide whether and how much they will charge for comments? Who would advocate taking the decision to make commenting free away from content creators? Seriously.
If someone makes commenting free, and gets spam, that's their own lookout. Right?

@richdalton I've seen it in comment sections here and there. The voice of it isn't especially loud and I don't think it'll be a huge problem. I think I could simply link people to this post now when I see such comments, and then it could be dealt with directly, rather than lingering.

I think you are totally right! Most of the time I want to comment but if I see it costs 10 (or more) I don't do it, i'd rather spend my money voting than commenting.
