We haven’t done an update for a while but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.
We have been making some changes to the organisation to take a stronger focus on internal marketing projects. After the past 5 months of experience it is clear to us that we need to be more effective when driving projects ourselves. This doesn’t mean we will stop accepting projects submitted to us, but that this will no longer be the focus of the organisation. We will support the implementation of Lighthouse so that we can get out of the way of community funding and allow anyone to donate to projects directly. Then we can fund projects directly through Lighthouse. Not only does this simplify and improve our project proposal process by removing us a kind of gatekeeper, but it also helps promote the use of an extremely powerful technology i.e. decentralised crowdfunding. We also intend to start providing some educational content on how to present a well-prepared project proposal, and how to execute on them, to increase the success-rate of BCH community projects.
We also fully understand the need for our organisation to reach the global community. This is no easy goal, but we have started to make inroads on this by hiring someone to bridge our connection with the Chinese Bitcoin Cash community. This will help us provide support the large BCH community in China, and allow us to relay what is happening there to wider community. We are also now having key video content translated into multiple other languages to increase the reach of the content that the community produces.
We have been doing a lot in the background over the past couple of months. I’ll go over some of this below.
In the next couple of weeks we will be launching a new Bitcoin Cash website. We feel there is currently a huge gap in the ecosystem for a resource hub which new users, new businesses and the current Bitcoin Cash community can use. This site will act as a funnel and an extension of our overall strategy. We will have more info on this very soon.
BCHTruckTO - (Community Project)
This is a new community project to advertise Bitcoin Cash in Toronto during Canada day on 1st July. An LED billboard truck will be driven around Toronto. Not only will it display Bitcoin Cash ads, but it will also be giving away free Bitcoin Cash by displaying private keys that contain some Bitcoin Cash.
If you are in Toronto we need help spreading the word and making a huge buzz for the day. We want to see people chasing the van around the streets to get free Bitcoin Cash!
FeeSaver - (Community Project)
We have agreed to a new project to build a simple website that shows merchants and businesses how much money they can save by integrating Bitcoin Cash into their finances. The merchant will be able to input a few simple pieces of data, and the website will display what a huge impact BCH will have on their business.
BCHForSchool - (Community Project)
Educational program aimed at students and teachers of Secondary Education for the diffusion of Bitcoin Cash as a new and better economic system based on virtual currency.
The purpose of the project is to teach Bitcoin Cash to young people high school students located in low-income communities of the city of Acarigua-Portuguesa-Venezuela. According statistics a large percentage of young Venezuelans have not heard of cryptocurrencies, especially Bitcoin Cash. For this reason, it promotes this project funded by The Bitcoin Cash Fund, not only with in order to impart information about our virtual currency but also to benefit with the donation of a combo of school supplies to students to participate and attend the talks.
The idea is to open the minds of these young people to a new economic system based on cryptocurrencies, emphasizing the characteristics and benefits that the use of Bitcoin Cash has. Our goal is to arrive in this first phase to 50 students and 15 high school teachers with our project educational, but in the future, with the help of The Bitcoin Cash financing Fund and with the help of donations from the Bitcoin Cash community in the received through social networks with the dissemination and publicity of This educational project, we want to reach 500 students or more.
We are currently in the process of organising a regular hackathon that will be run every few months. The aim is to bring more developers into the BCH ecosystem and get people creating more amazing tools. We will provide prizes in BCH and publicity to get the word out.
If you can help with this, or are interested in participating, please get in touch.
The growth of Bitcoin Cash meetups around the world has been astounding. There are now around 70 in 33 different countries. Our aim is to reach 200 by the end of 2018. We are still providing funding, merchandise and financial support to every BCH meetup to help them grow. We are also trying a pilot project to advertise meetups locally on social media to increase the number of attendees. We are also looking into helping current ambassadors level up their meetups to keep them fresh, interesting and professional. If you want to host a meetup in your city, just reach out and we will provide you with plenty of support.
We started filming our high production value documentary about Bitcoin Cash during the Satoshi’s Vision Conference. You can see a glimpse of some the footage we got from the wrap up video we produced for the event...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMdOPZiEQLM
This documentary will tell the story of Bitcoin Cash, and therefore the history of Bitcoin that caused it to split in two. We will show Bitcoin Cash being used around the world, and why this is so extremely important to every person on the planet.
The two next chunks of filming we will be doing will be in Colombia, Venezuela and at a major Bitcoin meetup in the US.
As part of the document, and to be released individually on our youtube channel, we are producing some high quality educational animations. The topics for these will be: ‘Summary Introduction’ , ‘What is Bitcoin Cash?’, ‘What is Money?’, ‘The Fork’. We hope to explain these topics on a semi-technical level through the use of clever analogies to help educate.
We are working with Bitcoincashers around the world to tell their stories on how BCH is helping them. We are working with EatBCH, as well as a number of other individuals. We are shipping them low-cost but highly effective video equipment packs to them, as well as educational information on producing good quality video. We want to empower BCH community members to produce their own content and show the world the power of Bitcoin Cash.
We joined the Cash Consortium started by Gabriel from Bitbox. This something sorely needed in the ecosystem, and it is something we are willing to help with funding and any other support we can give. We recommend that others also support this effort, as we feel it will allow Bitcoin Cash to implement upgrades far far faster across the ecosystem.
Satoshi’s Vision Conference
The conference was a huge success! We sponsored a networking event there to get all the great minds of the conference together. It was a great success and over 200 people attended. The venue location was a co-working and living space in Tokyo that accepts Bitcoin Cash. The Bitcoin Cash networking event was also the launch of the venue’s VIP Bitcoin Cash lounge, that wowed all those lucky people who got to see it at the end of the night. If you are in Tokyo I recommend going and checking it out. Tokyo Chapter.
We have started testing ads on Youtube, to make the most of the time we have left before Google bans crypto ads. We are also looking at taking out ads on cryptocurrency orientated sites to improve our market share within the existing cryptocurrency community. Once the new site is out, we still funneling different targets to different sections of the site, e.g. merchants will be sent to the merchant on-boarding section.
We spent $33,543 in April.
You can find a list of every payment we made HERE.
