The last video of Roger Ver going up to 2 Blockstream supporters and discussing Bitcoin with them was very entertaining. All of Rogers debates are nice to watch. He is calm, polite, very knowledgeable, and was one of the early adopters and knows what made Bitcoin a success.
However after watching the last video i was reminded of my own experience discussing Bitcoin with BTC supporters and it felt like a huge waste of my time. Educating somebody who is wrong about a subject, doesn’t know the truth or has been lied to … is all good and well, but debating somebody who enjoys being in one camp, no matter how wrong they are, wont change their opinion.
I know one reason why we engage with them in discussions is because of how wrong and vocal they are about their opinion of Bitcoin (BCH). Indeed it is a and confusing to newcomers when they call BCH a scam, but the response should be very short and effective in order to show the newcomers that they are lying about BCH. But how many newcomers are going to read or watch a long dragged out debate between the BTC and BCH supporters? You sure are not going to convince anybody on the BTC side of anything so that time and energy better was invested in educating newcomers. And as far as new people to the space goes it is already hard enough to explain Bitcoin to them without the BTC vs BCH debate. In my own experience it was easier and less confusing to just describe the BCH version of Bitcoin as the fast cheap Cash version, instead of going through the block size and blockstream story. The whole Blockstream takeover might matter to us, it seems extremely annoying and unjust, but it might be even more confusing or even irrelevant to people who are new to the space. I enjoyed Rogers video but how many people who are new to the space enjoyed the video, watched it or learned from it?
We should put our energy and time into showing people what bitcoin is and can do. I see this bear market as a positive thing. Air is going out of the bubble, people who are just there to make money are leaving the space. This is the perfect opportunity to build on adoption and slowly replace the air of the bubble with true value that comes from utility.

Blockstream and useful idiots like Greg Maxwell will keep getting funded as long as there are legacy banking systems who don't want Bitcoin to succeed.

I usually enjoy Roger's recent videos (including weekly roundups). The energy has been upbeat and informative. Today's video was a fail for me though (too aggressive, and calling it a debate is questionable).

That Asian guy is just mental, seriously... I would not have been so polite with him, and even give him $10 worth of BCH... the guys deserved slap on the head.
I can't believe that some people can be so stupid, so ignorant, and so brainwashed... and this moron is, I think, not even aware that he is a complete idiot, the other guy even had to step in towards the end as even he saw just how stupid his friend is.
Its just pathetic, there is no discussion left... you just can't educate idiots.

I agree with SD, Maven was right in calling out Roger that the questions were leading. Roger did come off like he was on an agenda and with the same questions. Calvin was of-course trying to get one over roger by acting a little bit like a troll.
But at the end I was completely taken back when Maven asked to review the video and was suddenly upset about posting the video. It was clear he expected a backlash from his community for being open to discuss with Roger and maybe "conceding" a few points about being cash or censorship
I've seen this behavior many times, Youtubers get a lot of flak for being positive or even neutral to BCH or for example Paul (what bitcoin did) interviewed Craig/Roger and was trying to be apologetic to his main audience for even giving them a platform to speak.
The social peer pressure is immense and I see that happening in BCH now
Honestly, I'm quite surprised BCH leaders are not calling out or condemning some of the extreme negative behavior that is happening due to upcoming contentious fork. Being civil and progressing together is very important especially because we are such a small community.
I believe all these happen and are meant to be effective because Bitcoin is the greatest threat to the status quo, so we will be tested!
