Follow up: Hosting a website on the bitcoin cash blockchain + Instruction easy enough for any non-technical person
This is a follow up to my previous story about my endeavor trying to host a website on the bitcoin cash blockchain: https://www.yours.org/content/hosting-a-website-on-the-bch-blockchain-with-bitdb-20----------i-am-5b8346293439
As you may have read I demonstrated this should be possible today, but I was kind of stuck with execution. So I reached out to unwriter on twitter to see if he could help.
He quickly replied, and came to the rescue.
Unwriter made a little tool to help me out. Apparently it wasn’t much work for anyone who knows what he is actually doing.
I made an instruction that should be easy enough for any non-technical person to follow. You can find this below. If you feel like tipping, please considder tipping unwriter https://www.yours.org/@unwriter on yours or tip https://www.cryptograffiti.info/: QRSDTW6YT6EY2SDG4YSLKHD3FHJ50XMHJV3RNW63SF because they actually made the tools to make this possible. I just linked it together and gave it a little nudge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instruction for the Unwriter publishing tool
This instruction helps you store information on the bitcoin cash blockchain and publish it as a ordinary website for the whole world to see. This information will be on-chain, immutable. It cannot be censored or reversed. It provides whistleblowers a secure way to publish information.
Step 1: Create HTML
Make a website in HTLM and put your information in this format. Don’t know how, use this HTML test site. https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_intro
Just <title>insert your Page Title here </title> <H1> Insert your document title here </H1> and <P> Insert your information here </P>. Need more paragraphs? Just copy past the <P> and </P> and insert your next paragraph between tease marks. Push the Run button to see the end result. Does this look alright? Done.
Step 2: Upload your HTML
Go to https://www.cryptograffiti.info/ and upload your HTML to the blockchain. Just copy past the HTML code from the test page where you have made the website. As long as you keep your website very basic this remains very cheap, somewhat between 1 or 2 dollar USD, but you have to pay in BCH.
Does it turn out to be a lot more expensive? Please reconsider if this information really needs to be on the blockchain.
Step3: Display website
To create a website you have to insert your transaction ID at https://unwriter.github.io/cryptograffitiweb/ and push “go”.
Step 4: Make custom URL
To shorten or customize your URL for easy access to your publication start with the link from the unwriter tool https://unwriter.github.io/cryptograffitiweb/ add a # and @ and past your transaction ID to make the URL look like this:
1 of 1 reviewers say it's worth paying for
0 of 1 reviewers say it's not worth paying for
