Hello friends I wanted to illustrate with photographs how hyperinflation translates into the real economy of an older adult.
The images are accompanied by the results of studies by different international organizations on the current Venezuelan economy.
1) Venezuela has become a place without favorable conditions for the most vulnerable populations, including the elderly.
2) Venezuelan seniors lose between 1 and 2 kilos a month due to the almost impossible access to an adequate diet, according to a study by the NGO Convite.
3) The Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS) put the number of pensioners at more than 4.2 million, including women over 55 and men over 60.
4) To speak of old age is to imagine a quiet life, a life that is impossible to achieve with more than 1,000,000% of accumulated inflation.
5) According to the 2018 Living Conditions Survey, 48% of Venezuelan households suffer from multidimensional poverty.
6) According to ENCOVI, 9 out of 10 Venezuelans do not have enough income to buy food.
7) The director of the Coalition of Organizations for the Right to Health and Life (Codevida), Francisco Valencia, denounced to the UN that 87% of the Venezuelan population lives in poverty, and 7 out of 10 live in extreme poverty.
8) According to the World Bank, a person is considered to be in extreme poverty if his or her income is less than $1.96 a day.
9) In Venezuela, the estimated minimum wage for the month of October 2019 is $1.96 per month.
10) This calculation is derived from the division between the minimum income stipulated in Venezuelan law, which is 40,000 bolivars, and the official dollar exchange rate for the aforementioned date (20,400 bolivars per dollar).
11) This is the context in which the civil association Convite presented the results of the Monitoring Health Access in Venezuela and Old Age at Risk project on August 29.
12) Studies show with figures the harsh reality suffered by grandparents.
13) Last July, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected inflation of 1,000,000%.
14) and an 18% drop in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at the end of this year for Venezuela.
15) The economic crisis comes at a time of exodus of citizens fleeing the crisis to Peru, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia.
All the products of the photographs are totally national.
I think I have made a quite complete and informative post.
If you would like to leave me a tip I will thank you very much.
I'm also looking for help for a little boy from my hometown of 3 years old who needs brain surgery.
Thank you very much.
