This is a short original sci-fi story I wrote titled "No Heart In the Mire"
It is the year 2078. The human race has evolved by use of artificially implanting technology within their body. Several human's information is downloaded into the central computer hive mind complex. The future human beings collectively judge their approach in the world as being "irrelevant" as they never took it upon themselves to upgrade to the Transhumanist Christ-Allah microchip v1.8 in the year 2038 which the government decreed as necessary for the survival of the human race.
Yet, in the same slightly shifted reality upon Earth. Light beings notice the individual energetic signatures that they recognize as the information judged by the technocratic humans as being irrelevant. However, they saw it as a reflection of themselves that forged a path in the darkness so that the light could be seen that much more clearly.
It would be thousands upon thousands of years before the artificially created humans would ever sympathize.
